Doctors Notice a Curious Trend in Swine Flu Deaths

Bloomberg: An unexpected characteristic has emerged among many swine flu victims who become severely ill: They are fat.

While normal flu has a disproportionate impact on the very old and very young, doctors have noted that H1N1 seems to be disproportionately punishing those in the prime of life. Perhaps this link with obesity explains why.
